I was about 8 years old when I first picked a cue, 46 yrs. ago now - I'm 54. In high school I was on the juniors' team that our local poolhall organized. I've been away from the game for much too long, but such is the case when one has no transportation. When I lived up on the mountain and was playing on the bar boxes up there, when I was in the Lucky Shoe playing, the cook used to come out and watch me shoot, in between him filling orders; I'm not sure how many times I tried to get him to play a game but he always refused; I finally asked him why not, his answer was that he held 5th place in state rankings and he didn't want to risk that standing. How playing in leisure games put that at risk, I've no idea, doesn't sound sensible to me, but that's how he dodged a game. It's been a handful of years since I've had access to a table, but it doesn't usually take too many racks before I start getting back in stroke. I've decided to get back into the game at scale, I've my eyes back on the big national tournaments again, playing Vegas is going to happen sooner than not; it's long past time for me to make the lifelong aspiration of taking my game to the pro level. I've been binge watching this summer's pro tournaments, it's just short of torturing myself, for the jones to get back on a table. Buying a house so I can get a table is the top priority in my life now.

I've been playing regularly now for over a year and been playing daily for about 10 months. I play in the Monday APA league at Billiard Palace where I'm a SL 3 on 8 ball and SL 4 on 9 ball (since January). I play the weekly 9 ball tournament at Dragon Horn regularly, the quarterly/monthly 8 ball tournament at Louie's, and played my first 8 ball tournament at the VFW on Girard tonight. I prefer VNEA 8 ball rules over APA as I really hate losing/winning because of slop. 8 ball is a called shot game imo, while I know 9 ball is a little bit looser. My biggest weakness is my mental game as when I play outside of tournaments/leagues I'm a much better player so really working on figuring out what is happening to me mentally. I practice on my lunch hour and for a couple of hours on Fridays and then play M (APA league, T-W with friends (which I'd rearrange if I joined a Wednesday night team). Outside of pool, I'm a writer, a college administrator and a teacher. Very easy going and drama free. I like people and getting to know them and their stories.

I've played APA as well as VNEA OUT OF POST 49 with shane Jorgensen for a couple of seasons. Not sure what rank I was before the change.of the ranking system.I believe I was AAA .
